Let’s start by talking a little bit about the article format. While there are tons of articles available to help readers write better stories, one of the main ones that I use in my daily blogging sessions is this one. This article format not only helps me build a unique brand and make more traffic throughout my blog but also makes it easier for readers (your audience) to participate in the story and bring them along with you. In today’s world, we all need to know how many people around us really want to read our stories—they want to share their opinion on what we have written! The best part of this article format is that readers can learn something from each other. As an example, if your article is about “5 Ways My Husband Doesn’t Love Me,” he may write “5 Reasons My Wife doesn’t Like My Husband. Five Things You Need to Know about Writing Article

While the readers should be able to follow the topic of their article, writing an entire article in this style might not help readers develop as they would if they wrote it in the form in which it appears in most email inboxes. Many times, I try to combine elements of both formats and I’ve found that you can actually get away with it. But when we look at the numbers, we find that about 55% of Americans read articles in the form of emails or social media. So let’s dive into what’s going on in each section.

The first thing I’ll talk about is getting enough followers on your article. People always say different things about writing content-based stories, so don’t go too far with the number of supporters of whatever content you are currently creating. Some writers are lucky enough to receive dozens of organic followers, while others are lucky just to reach 50 thousand on Instagram! But if it looks good, then we’ve no problem waiting for thousands of engagements to pop up as well as making an impression and attracting attention from readers. After all, reading these types of content makes readers feel safe to comment and interact with your story. And when readers become engaged, they can tell that stories like yours matter to them. The next important thing to consider is having a writer’s name attached to your article. A name comes in handy because I’ll always refer the readers to specific websites or Instagram accounts. For instance, on my website where I create quality content, my username is Stephen Jansen. However, on social networks, I will often mention my wife’s last name—I’m still married, that’s why I keep using her full name. Of course, I don’t speak for everyone who writes as I do because some people might be willing to reveal their names in case your article has received thousands of shares via social media. Regardless of whether a reader’s name is important to use when building relationships, don’t use their real identity when building their follower list. Use another name. It’s especially important to avoid revealing personal information in any way, shape, or form of communication. If possible, think carefully before publishing a story. Now onto the juicy stuff. There’s a lot of content out there. From books to podcasts to infographics and more, there’s tons of great news, events, and other types of content. What I believe is that if we use the content as a platform to educate/share ideas and experiences, it can go a long way to grow our following. In terms of growth, stories from trusted sources like Buzzfeed, Instagram Stories, YouTube, and LinkedIn might go a long way. Not only does such content come with high engagement percentages, but they also offer a variety of ways to consume different types of content such as interviews, short videos, GIFs, polls, etc (as discussed in my Instagram Live post). All of this and much more could earn you hundreds, even tens of thousands of supporters—if not thousands! That being said, it doesn’t mean that all news sources are created equal. Some publications like Reddit’s WallStreetBets are notoriously controversial, while others like Medium.com seem just like regular online journalism. Don’t worry. If you’re looking to publish such content, your work won’t be complete without a strong marketing strategy in place.

A second big element that is going to benefit your career is becoming a successful business owner. Growing up, I had this dream that becoming a professional author was kind of impossible. No matter what anyone tells you, if you become a business owner, everyone will respect your skills, talents, and ability. Even though I am a blogger, I am also a self-employed salesman to promote my work. These two professions are completely different. Being a seller does not require you to have knowledge of all aspects of business or management, just knowing the basics is very useful. I always say that selling knowledge should never outweigh the skills one has. Learning any new skill is easy and fun, but if you lack knowledge, you really should not move forward with it. Otherwise, I advise those hoping to succeed in sales to take a break from everything else and focus solely on sales (and probably something related to business). The third aspect is that being able to market your work. Sure, not every blogger is able to sell his product, but in reality, I mean everyone who does has the opportunity to do it, including myself. Just imagine someone selling a piece of a cake. How much knowledge would one be required to sell a piece of bread? Also, how much more money would one be to sell vegetables versus cooking potatoes? Well, that’s exactly what I’m talking about! Selling food takes an enormous amount of knowledge and time, and selling vegetables requires less knowledge and time…and more money! Marketing your artwork (or anything, really) is extremely hard to do and requires a huge amount of knowledge, but this is what we all get paid to do. Selling your works to other artists for a meager rate! Sounds pretty sweet, right? Yes, there is that line between the two worlds, but if you want to experience the lifestyle of an artist, we have you covered. Now, I hear you saying, “well, the price tag on this painting is probably a tiny bit higher than the price tag on the restaurant I’m dining at!” Well, that’s the point that separates the two worlds. Unless you go all the way to the extreme, you won’t get a good product that sells well. We have a plethora of artists that produce amazing artwork—and we sell their work exclusively on websites like Vocal, Etsy, and Patreon. Don’t get me wrong, there are talented artists selling pieces of art at reasonable prices in markets like New York or Los Angeles, but the beauty of artists who create their own art is that they are not limited only to markets…they also create unique artworks. Another beautiful feature about artists is the fact that they can create different artwork for themselves in order to cater to different audiences. When I say that I’ve been selling paintings, I mean that I haven’t only sold paintings by famous artists such as Cindy Sherman, Robert Rauschenberg, Jeff Koons, Vincente Ballesteros, or John Singleton (though I’m sure some of you might guess), but I also sell small-scale portraits such as landscapes, drawings, abstract work, drawings, wood sculptures, and much more. The final touch that you need when developing content and finding success in both of your realms are social media networks and influencers. Social media has become increasingly popular over the past few years, especially for businesses. Today, almost everyone uses social media—some of my clients on Facebook (MySpace, Twitter, Spotify, Amazon Prime, among others)—social channels have a massive influence on our lives as we communicate and show gratitude through our posts. Influencers and brands, on the other hand, play a tremendously important role in our lives as they provide us with inspiration, opinions, and feedback. Social media has provided the modern celebrity model; we have countless people now that act as models for us and our stories for public consumption. With social media, you can connect with millions of fans at once, interact with them, and gain valuable life lessons from them. Whether it’s inspiring us or giving us advice, the experience of social media is incredible. Not to mention that influencers also have opportunities to engage with their audience, learn from them and interact with them in return.

Now that I’ve talked about five things that you need to know, I’d like to remind you that the article format is not perfect. Some articles may work out for certain types of audiences, while also showing some imperfections within articles. Ultimately, however, I hope that you enjoy your article creation as much as I do because once you start using the format, you will truly understand its quirks! As a side note, many times bloggers ask for suggestions when trying to set up their accounts. Those of you reading this article may appreciate the suggestion but do not accept it.
